I spent a very pleasant couple of days in London earlier this week as the rent-a-quote astronomer for a PR campaign being run by cottages4you.co.uk, who were looking to promote their properties as ideal places to stargaze, as many of them are I’m sure.

I was interviewed on at least a dozen different local radio stations, all keen to hear about last night’s Leonid meteor shower, the best places to stargaze, and the results of a survey that cottages4u had carried out to assess the UK public’s knowledge of, and enthusiasm for, astronomy. The results were mildly interesting, especially the fact that 85% of the 1000 people surveyed thought that astronomy should be taught more in schools.
